GEOFFREY TAHUAHUA | PRESIDENT
Geoffrey Tahuahua (tuh-wa-wa) is President of the Associated Builders and Contractors of Texas, the voice of the merit shop construction industry at the Texas Capitol. ABC Texas represents more than 1,700 member companies across eight chapters, spanning the full spectrum of the commercial and industrial construction industry.
With more than 15 years of experience in government affairs, including work across multiple Texas legislative sessions, Geoffrey leads ABC Texas’ legislative and regulatory strategy, advocating for fair and open competition and policies that support the growth of Texas’ construction workforce. He is widely recognized for his ability to navigate complex political environments, build coalitions, and deliver meaningful results for the industry.
Under his leadership, ABC Texas has secured major legislative victories across consecutive sessions. During the 88th Legislative Session, he led the passage of landmark policies including the Texas Regulatory Consistency Act (HB 2127) and Right to Repair (HB 2965). Building on that success, the 89th Legislative Session delivered additional wins focused on strengthening the construction industry’s legal and business environment, including trust fund claim assignment (SB 841), accrual date clarification for Right to Repair claims (HB 1922), and contract venue protections (HB 2960). Together, these efforts have reduced legal uncertainty, reinforced longstanding industry practices, and improved fairness in the contracting process.
His work has earned statewide recognition, including being named an Austin Under 40 finalist in Government Affairs and a finalist for the Association Champion Award from US.Leg following the 89th Legislative Session.
Prior to joining ABC Texas, Geoffrey served as Vice President of Policy and Government Affairs for the Real Estate Council of Austin. His experience also includes roles with the Home Builders Association of Greater Austin, the Texas Public Policy Foundation, and the Texas House of Representatives. He currently serves on the Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Contractors Advisory Board for the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation.
A graduate of St. Mary’s University with a degree in Political Science, Geoffrey lives in Dripping Springs with his wife and their children. He also serves on the Dripping Springs City Council, where he remains actively engaged in issues impacting his local community.
